Artist: Fernando Haro III
Artist/Owner of Creative Mayhem, Fernando Haro III. is from Southern California and now resides in Las Vegas, NV. Fernando has a unique and diverse background having studied mathematics, economics, and electrical engineering as an undergraduate at the University of California at Irvine and then obtaining a masters degree in engineering from Stanford University.
Fernando also attended the Culinary Institute of America in San Antonio, TX , where he reinforced his cooking and baking skills before moving to Las Vegas in June 2014. He has worked in several kitchens and bakeries for famous chefs in Texas and here in Las Vegas and has also operated his own catering business. Fernando's passion for cooking and baking ended when he developed bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome, elbow and shoulder injuries, all which required surgery.
Fernando has always been a creative, but focused his time and energy in his schoolwork rather than his passion in art. Fernando's initial skull designs started off as simple pencil drawings and later were converted to digital art once he learned Illustrator and other software. He also creates unique and vibrant artwork using acrylic paints and resin & alcohol inks. He is now incorporating his paintings into his skull designs as different backgrounds. Fernando continues to expand his knowledge in digital art, acrylic painting, resin artwork and has also started created 3D art using foam and plaster.
Fernando started his first art business while a graduate student at Stanford University. The business was named Skelewear and it started off as a clothing line consisting mainly of t-shirts with his hand drawn designs on them. This business was more of a part-time gig for him as he had to focus on completing his graduate degree. He has since decided to pursue his passion of art full-time and spends his time creating new art and selling it at various art shows/markets throughout Las Vegas and California. Fernando has since rebranded his art business under the name Creative Mayhem, LLC and continues to expand his presence in Las Vegas and California.
Throwback to the mid-80s...
Yeah, that's me back in the day, out skating until the lights came on. You won't catch me riding any skateboards soon, the best I can do is create some awesome art on skateboard decks. As a teen, my friends and I would spend all day skating, we didn't have all the skateparks that they have now but we made it happen. I was really into freestyle skating back then, now I guess they call it street. The boards were smaller and made to perform tricks. My first regular board was a Steve Caballero then a Tony Hawk. My first freestyle board was a Rodney Mullen...miss those days. Even though I don't skate anymore, I still enjoy watching people skate and seeing how much the sport has evolved. I create a lot of unique designs on skateboard decks using resin and alcohol inks and hope to start posting these products on my site soon.
